**Scientific career:**- 1980 - 1981 Research Assistant at the University of Essen;

1981 - 1990 Research Assistant and Assistant Professor at the University of Duisburg (on leave 1982-83 and 1987-89);

1982 - 1983 Visiting Researcher at the University of Illinois at Urbana with a DFG Postdoctoral fellowship;

1987 - 1989 DFG Research Assistant in the DFG research center Representation Theory at the University of Essen;

1990 (summer term) Acting Professor at the University of Duisburg;

1990 - 1993 Heisenberg Fellow of the DFG;

1993 - 2002 Professor for Algebra at the University of Magdeburg;
